KAMPALA: News coming in confirms that. the King of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi is currently receiving treatment at Namibia’s Okonguarri Psychotherapeutic Centre. A private mental health hospital in Namibia.
This was revealed in a response to a letter dated May 21 from a concerned anonymous Ugandan staying in Germany requesting clarification on rumors that Kabaka is being “held in Namibia,” Namibia’s ambassador to Germany, Martin Andjaba, is the one that verified this.
Andjaba in a letter dated May 24 stated that, contrary to what certain social media outlets have claimed, Kabaka is not being held in Namibia. He however revealed that Ronald Muwenda Mutebi is in a private mental hospital receiving ‘treatment’
“He arrived in the country in April 2024 for treatment and is currently at Okonguarri Psychotherapeutic Centre in the Outjo area in the Kunene Region,” Andjaba wrote.
As per Andjaba’s letter, precautions have been taken to ensure the Kabaka’s safety while in Namibia as a VIP. Although Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s exact medical condition is unknown, we have tried to understand what that health facility he is in does.
This gave us a clue as it is found out that, the hospital offers customized treatment sessions for individuals with personality dysfunctions (psychosis), depression, anxiety, somatoform, substance-related, and childhood-related disorders in addition to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
It should be noted that pictures of the Kabaka meeting at what appeared to be an eco-lodge with Uganda’s ambassador to Namibia, Joseph Ndawula, appeared online a few weeks ago. This sparked a massive rumor on where the king was, as others revealed that he was being held captive.

Since Kabaka has been absent from public events for some months, several Baganda are worried about raising different voices on social media. The Lukiiko was notified by the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga last month that Kabaka was recuperating from surgery that was done abroad.
We are yet to establish the exact matter regarding Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi situation, and of it is a mental issue, still we shall get this to the bottom.
