The Member of Parliament of Igara East, Michael Mawanda is currently learning a new skill of tailoring while in Luzira Maximum Prison. It should be remembered that, Mawanda has spent several weeks in Luzira ever since he was arrested over a shs150bn scandal.
Pictures emerged from jail showing him clad in the famous yellow prison uniform as he was sewing more yellow uniforms for other inmates as Minister Kahinda Otafiire looked on. By the time he leaves jail, he may need that skill or even start a business in that since he has the capacity.
Remember that, Ugandan prisons have different vocational incentavies they use to skill inmates. These products are either sold outside or used indoors for other inmates. On seeing these photos, several social media users reacted to them joyfully. They said that more MPs should and shall be joining Michael Mawanda there.
Hon. Michael Mawanda was arrested on allegations of embezzling over Shs150 billion for cooperatives. Security operatives about a month ago raided his home in search of evidence which was then loaded and taken away for further investigations.

Attempts by his lawyers have been met by stiff resistance from the authorities. People from his constituency have been appealing to God through fasting and President Museveni for his release but all these are yet to yield anything.
